A Note to Residents About HOA Board Meetings

As an HOA Board, we have received a number of questions recently about our HOA Board Meetings, places, and times for our meetings. All HOA Board meeting notices are posted in each newsletter and on our new website, summerslandingva.org.
As a general practice, the HOA Board only posts the street signs for the annual meeting because that is an HOA membership meeting and not just an HOA Board meeting. All meetings are open to SL residents. Since it is easier to cancel meetings than to schedule them, the BoD has scheduled more meetings than it will need. Therefore, all meetings are subject to cancellation and, if cancelled, no meeting minutes will be available.
If anyone would like additional information about our HOA board meetings or would like to attend them on a regular basis, please call our HOA Management Company, Elite Community Management, at (540) 371-0652 one or two days before a board meeting for the time and place, and to make sure the meeting has not been cancelled. Such a call is not necessary for the annual board meetings in January.
SL residents also have the option to be notified through email of all HOA board meetings by Elite Community Management. This type of request must be renewed at the beginning of each calendar year.
Please understand that SL residents may only attend board meetings as spectators. With the exception of the annual meeting, residents may not participate in HOA meetings except during the resident forum, although the Board has not found it necessary to be overly strict in enforcing this requirement.
